I can hear your collective groan. There is nothing bad about gluten unless you have some sort of celiac disease, you say. I know, I know. BUT, over the past year or so, I’ve noticed I feel waaaay better when I cut out all crappy carbs and processed junk. This is probably more related to eating healthy, real foods, but I’ve dabbled in the paleo voodoo a bit and feel great when I do it.
Unfortunately, I seem to keep leaping off the paleo wagon. I usually land in a vat of beer. And cake. And everything else baked by magical little sugar fairies and chocolate elves or brewed and dry hopped by one of the many local microbreweries.
I’m trying to get to the point where the benefits are more tempting than the convenience of crapfood but I find it difficult to stay the course. The important thing though is that I keep coming back to it.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go check out robbwolf.com or ask anyone in a Crossfit shirt about their diet. Actually, you can usually just stand near a crossfitter and they will spontaneously start telling you all about it. Unprompted. It’s an amazing phenomenon.
Roasted (is “convectioned” a cooking term?) portobello mushroom caps with basil, pine nuts, a smidge of Parmesan cheese and a splash of homemade balsamic vinaigrette.
Day one down. Baby steps.

I did CrossFit for awhile and ate semi-paleo and definitely felt awesome… but MAN i love beer, and I just cannot follow a “lifestyle diet” that doesn’t include beer.
