I recently noticed that my former classmate Kari over at disco mom and virtual goody plate had moved and combined the two blogs into: This is Awesomeland. I’ve been following her for years and can credit her with our favorite Christmas tradition – see: THIS. If you aren’t reading her blog – she has fantastic lists (gifts for kids under 10 by year, book recommendations for kids by category – picture books, chapter books, christmas books), plus delicious recipes, AND she is starting a homeschooling journey this year.
So, this whole blog shake-up of hers had me wondering…does anyone else have blogs from years ago? Why did you abandon them?
Aside: does anyone else feel a little Carrie from Sex in the City-ish when they ask questions on their blog? Are you envisioning me sprawled out on my bed in cute pjs, quizzically looking up at the ceiling. Because that’s why I’m doing. Mentally.
I have quite a few blog skeletons in my closet:
How not to make friends: detailed my quest to meet new people in a new state. It was 2005 and we had just moved from Virginia to Florida. It didn’t go well.
Nonsense of Style: critically looking at my closet and finding it lacking, this blog narrated my goal of figuring out “style” and how to dress myself.
“I discovered that I can’t even match black. My black pants and shirt (with an acceptable amount of spit up) do not match. I wasn’t aware this was even possible. I’m so not fashion forward. I’m not even fashion backward. I’m like the person a fashionable piece of clothing would run from, knowing that my closet is a bleak dark sinkhole that will make it cry. Really.”
Ugh, I’m still working on this. The (free) personal stylist at Nordstrom has helped a lot, if you missed it, you can read about that – Begone Fancy Fleece.
RevampThis!: all dieting and weight-loss. From after kid #2 in 2008 to two years past kid #3 in 2012. Highs and lows and all points in between. Meh. I mean really, meh. How many times can you take pictures of your food, count calories, add up points, change plans…sigh. Let’s just forget this ever happened and move on. Can someone pass me a brownie?
Hacienda-ish: I started documenting all of the home improvement projects in our current house. I thought I was going to be all Young House Love-ish. But lots of life happened and our projects tend to run in great big fits and bursts – not really all that great for blogging consistently. Mid-project we usually have some big deadline looming (everyone will be here for thanksgiving tomorrow and we have no floors!) that makes it impossible to take the time to blog. I may pick it back up at some point. I love documenting the before/afters and we are always working on *something*.
The only other blog I have now is a beekeeping log that Kevin started at (Sanabeja) to document our apiary. It wasn’t really meant for sharing, but I’m trying to make it more interesting. Yes, I was able to type that last sentence with a straight face. If something really exciting happens, I may repost from there but I’m trying not to have this blog be all bees, all the time.
What about you guys? Do you keep multiple blogs or have you ever just decided to start over?
